The Greenville County Coroner’s Office revealed that the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident. Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis stated, “It’s obvious they were speeding,” during an interview with a local news channel. The vehicle was found crumpled and stuck in a tree, suspended at least 20 feet above the ground.
Sequence of Events
According to reports, the SUV was traveling north on I-85 when it suddenly veered across four lanes of traffic, bypassed trees on the other side of the bridge, and ultimately went down an embankment. Ellis expressed bewilderment at the incident, stating, “It’s obvious they were speeding, and for some reason, they left the road. I’m not sure why at this point.”
