Cell phone records placed Mattison in the area of Harvard, just one mile away from where Garnett’s body was eventually found. Surveillance footage from the Harvard Police Department revealed gunshots heard around 5 a.m. on September 17, adding a chilling layer to the investigation.

Key Evidence and Arrest Warrant

Shell casings found near Garnett’s body were examined by the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab and matched the casings from a previous shoot-out involving Mattison and Hastings Police.
