A Chinese national, illegally detained in Parañaque City, was rescued by police in a swift operation on 25 April 2024. The victim, alias Zhang, was unlawfully held by four Chinese nationals working in a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO). With the help of the victim’s common-law wife, authorities were able to successfully rescue Zhang and apprehend the suspects – alias Wu, alias Fan, alias Liu, and alias Xueyu. The rescue operation, documented with an interpreter’s assistance, was a collaborative effort resulting in the gathering of crucial evidence. Parañaque City Police Station is preparing charges against the arrested suspects for their involvement in the illegal detention case.

Rescue Operation in Parañaque City Leads to Arrest of Chinese Nationals

An incident of grave coercion and illegal detention involving a Chinese national was swiftly dealt with by the Parañaque City Police Sun Valley Sub-Station on the evening of 25 April 2024. The rescue operation took place in Barangay Merville, Parañaque City, following a distress call received by authorities at around 6:30 p.m.

The victim, known only as alias Zhang, a 35-year-old Chinese national, was reportedly being unlawfully detained at a specific address in the area. The suspects, identified as alias Wu (29 years old), alias Fan (30 years old), alias Liu (31 years old), and alias Xueyu (33 years old), all Chinese nationals employed in a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO), were apprehended at the scene.

Upon reaching the location, officers were assisted by the victim’s common-law wife, who provided crucial information leading to the successful rescue of Zhang and the subsequent arrest of the suspects. An interpreter was present during the operation to ensure effective communication and documentation of the events.

The collaborative effort between the authorities and the informant played a vital role in the seamless execution of the rescue operation and the collection of essential evidence. Documents are currently being prepared by the Parañaque City Police Station to file appropriate charges against the arrested suspects.
