A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a homicide at Tangi Village Apartments in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Tyrell “Rell” Brister was taken into custody for the shooting death of 28-year-old Malcolm Toney. Toney was shot at the apartments on Quick Boulevard and later died from his injuries. Brister faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and home invasion. Another suspect, Monica Haynes, is wanted for accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. Sheriff Daniel Edwards urges anyone with information on Haynes’ whereabouts to contact Detective Russell Walker. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa.

Tangipahoa Parish Man Arrested in Connection with Homicide at Tangi Village Apartments

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and another suspect is wanted in connection with a homicide at Tangi Village Apartments in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. The incident took place on Tuesday (April 23) at the apartment complex located on Quick Boulevard.

Arrest Made in Connection with Shooting

Sheriff Daniel Edwards announced the arrest of Tyrell “Rell” Brister, 21, of Hammond, in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Malcolm Toney, also from Hammond. Toney was shot at the Tangi Village Apartments shortly after 11:30 a.m. and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Brister, identified as the shooting suspect, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges including second-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault by drive-by shooting, home invasion, and other offenses. He has been booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

Search for Additional Suspect

During the investigation, authorities identified another suspect as 39-year-old Monica Haynes, also known as Monica Sims. Haynes is believed to be driving a maroon sedan and is wanted on charges of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault by drive-by shooting, and obstruction of justice.
