Raj Kumar alias Raja, a 32-year-old resident of Palsora village, was arrested by UT police in Chandigarh for attempting to smuggle heroin into the city. The police seized 12.66 grams of heroin from his possession and he was sent to judicial custody after appearing in court. In a separate incident, an unidentified miscreant on a bike snatched a mobile phone from a woman in Sector 37. The Sector 39 police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. Chandigarh: The UT police made a significant arrest on Monday when they apprehended a drug peddler in Sector 55 attempting to smuggle heroin into the city. The accused, identified as Raj Kumar alias Raja, a 32-year-old resident of Palsora village, was caught red-handed by the Sector-39 police team during a routine patrol in the area.
According to official reports, the police officers noticed the accused acting suspiciously as he approached their check post. Upon seeing the police, the accused attempted to flee the scene, prompting a chase by the officers. After a brief pursuit, the police managed to apprehend the suspect and upon conducting a search, discovered 12.66 grams of heroin in his possession. The drugs were seized, and the accused was arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. He was subsequently presented before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
In a separate incident, an unidentified individual on a motorcycle snatched a mobile phone from a woman in Sector 37. The victim, identified as Gayatri and a resident of Sector 38, reported the incident to the Sector 39 police, who have since registered a case against the unknown assailant. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the mobile phone snatching case, and investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, in recent news, a Delhi police constable named Vikram Pahal was arrested by the UP Special Task Force (STF) for his alleged involvement in a paper leak case concerning the UP Police recruitment exams. Pahal, who was apprehended in Haryana, stands accused of aiding an estimated 43 lakh candidates in obtaining confidential exam materials. The investigation into the case has spanned multiple states, with the Meerut unit of the STF playing a pivotal role in capturing the constable.
