The Intruder Breaks into Los Angeles Mayor’s Home

On Sunday, an intruder broke into the home of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, causing a stir in the historic Windsor Square district where the incident took place. The Mayor’s office released a statement confirming the break-in at Getty House around 6:40 a.m. Thankfully, Mayor Bass and her family were unharmed and safe.

The Los Angeles Police Department swiftly responded to the intrusion, stating that the suspect had smashed a window to gain entry into the residence. The LAPD Media Relations Division reported that the intruder was taken into custody without any injuries to the occupants. Past Incidents Involving Politicians’ Homes

This incident is not the first of its kind involving prominent political figures in the area. In September 2022, while Bass was a House representative, her personal residence in Baldwin Vista was burglarized, resulting in the theft of two handguns. Two suspects were apprehended. The following month, the home of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was also broken into. Though Pelosi was not at home, her husband, Paul Pelosi, faced a violent assault with a hammer by the intruder, David DePape, resulting in a fractured skull.

David DePape was later convicted of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assaulting a family member of a federal official. These incidents highlight the vulnerability of public figures and the importance of security measures in place to protect them.
