The Scene of the Crime

The alleged homicide of 27-year-old Dominic Adams, which took place earlier this month, has shocked the residents of Pueblo. The tragic incident unfolded in the 1000 block of Elm Street, where Adams was found dead in a vehicle after a ShotSpotter alert at 9:25 p.m. that fateful night.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Details

The Pueblo Police Department’s arrest affidavit detailed the events leading up to the shooting, which were captured on surveillance footage as well as ShotSpotter technology. The footage showed a dark-colored vehicle on the sidewalk east of the suspect vehicle, which then left the scene after the shooting occurred.

Relationship Drama Unfolds

Gabriel Santiago, 19, has been charged with the murder of Adams, and his sister, Alexandra Santiago, was also present at the scene of the crime. Alexandra, who was pregnant with Adams’ child, had a rocky, on-and-off relationship with him for the past three years. Court records revealed that there was an active restraining order against Adams, prohibiting him from contacting Alexandra.

Details of the Altercation

According to Alexandra Santiago’s account, her brother, Gabriel Santiago, had been with her all day before the shooting took place. She claimed that Gabriel had left the house briefly before returning and ultimately getting involved in the altercation with Adams. Despite her attempts to intervene, the situation escalated, resulting in Adams being shot.

Surveillance Footage Provides Clues

Surveillance footage from a nearby residence captured the sequence of events leading up to the shooting. The footage showed flashes of light, consistent with muzzle flashes, emanating from the suspect vehicle, as well as individuals entering and exiting the residence in the moments following the shooting.

Legal Ramifications

Following the incident, Gabriel Santiago was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and is currently being held in the Pueblo County jail on a $600,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in front of Judge Amiel Markenson on May 2 to face the charges brought against him.
