MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Public Safety has issued a plea for assistance from the public in locating a suspect linked to a tragic double homicide that took place in rural Marshalltown. On the early hours of Friday, April 19, 2024, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a distress call to check on the residents of a home located at 2645 182nd Street in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of a male and female, identified as Mario Murillo, aged 28, from Marshalltown, and Frances Tillie Gasca, aged 33, also from Marshalltown. The ensuing investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation led to the identification of Ilias Julian Lasley, aged 29, as the prime suspect in the murders of Mr. Murillo and Ms. Gasca. Mr. Lasley stands accused of two counts of Murder in the 1st Degree and is considered to be armed and dangerous.
