Authorities have provided new information about a man discovered dead in Harrisburg. The 43-year-old individual, who was fatally shot near Thompson and Evergreen streets, is believed to be from Huntingdon, according to county representative Diane McNaughton. Neighbors confirmed the location of the body at the intersection. The victim was identified through fingerprints. Witnesses reported that the shooting originated on 13th Street and concluded at Thompson and Evergreen Streets. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. This incident marks the fifth homicide in Harrisburg this year. Man Found Dead in Harrisburg Identified as Huntingdon Resident

Officials released new details on a man who was found dead in Harrisburg Wednesday night.

The 43-year-old man who was shot and killed in the area of Thompson and Evergreen streets shortly before 11:45 p.m. is believed to be a Huntingdon resident, according to county spokesperson Diane McNaughton.

Neighbors later confirmed the body was located at the corner of that intersection.

Police identified the man using his fingerprints, McNaughton said.

Scene of the Incident

Thompson Street remained busy Thursday morning as residents walked around the neighborhood. Police tape lingered on posts as a nearby mechanic worked on the underbelly of a car. There was otherwise no indication a shooting occurred in the area.

The altercation that led to the shooting began on 13th Street, according to neighbors who spoke with police the next morning. They said the shooting reached its conclusion at Thompson and Evergreen Streets.

The man was found shot in the head, those same neighbors said police told them.

Police left the scene of the shooting sometime before 2:30 a.m., according to another resident who lives nearby.

This is the fifth homicide in Harrisburg this year, compared to three this time last year.
