In a shocking incident in east Delhi’s Shakarpur, a 33-year-old MCA graduate allegedly murdered his wife and brother-in-law using a screwdriver. The victims were identified as Kamlesh Holkar, a 30-year-old teacher, and her brother, Ram Pratap Singh, a 17-year-old native of Mathura. The incident took place on Wednesday, and the police are investigating whether marital discord may have been the motive behind the gruesome crime.

The police received a PCR call around 10:11 am reporting a fight at a house in Shakarpur. Upon reaching the scene, the authorities discovered that two individuals had been fatally attacked with a screwdriver. The husband of the deceased woman, Shreyansh Kumar, was initially missing but later joined the police investigation and confessed to the crime. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta confirmed that Kumar has been arrested.

“There are a lot of contradictions in the narration given by the family members. It is suspected the crime scene may have been tampered with. The role of all family members is being investigated,” stated DCP Gupta.

Kumar, who had a master’s degree in computer applications, used to coach students online from his home. His wife worked as a teacher at a school in UP’s Sahibabad. The couple got married in 2021 and had a child together. The victims’ family members from Mathura alleged that the wife had been a victim of domestic violence, which ultimately led to her tragic death.

A neighbor residing across from the family’s house recalled hearing sounds of distress around 9:30 am on the day of the incident. The victims’ family members from Mathura arrived in Delhi upon hearing the news of the murders. They claimed that the wife had been subjected to domestic violence by her husband, leading to the brutal crime.

Ravindra Singh, a relative, expressed regret that the victim did not report the domestic violence earlier, as it may have prevented the tragedy. Another relative, Gobind Baghel, also attested to the troubled relationship between the victim and her husband.

DCP Gupta confirmed that the bodies of the victims have been taken for postmortem examination. The investigation into the case is ongoing, with the police looking into all aspects of the crime and the possible motives behind it. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and disbelief, highlighting the importance of addressing domestic violence and seeking help in such situations.
