A dramatic scene unfolded in St. Francis, Wisconsin on Thursday afternoon as a police chase resulted in a three-vehicle crash at the busy intersection of Kinnickinnic and Howard.
ST. FRANCIS, Wis. – A St. Francis police chase led to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kinnickinnic and Howard on Thursday afternoon, April 18.
The chaotic sequence of events began when police officers attempted to pull over a vehicle near Highway 794 northbound at Layton Avenue around 2:30 p.m. The reason for the attempted stop was the driver’s dangerous combination of speeding and reckless driving. The driver, a 63-year-old man from South Milwaukee, initially complied and pulled over on Oklahoma Avenue just east of the highway.
However, what seemed like a routine traffic stop quickly escalated when the driver handed his license to the officer and then suddenly sped off, igniting a high-speed pursuit. The chase was eventually called off near Kinnickinnic and Holt, but the repercussions were far from over. It was later discovered that the driver had crashed at the intersection of Kinnickinnic and Howard, causing a pile-up involving two other vehicles.
