1. Unsolved homicides in Palm Beach County
2. Cold case murders in South Florida without arrests

Palm Beach County has been haunted by a series of cold cases that have remained unsolved for decades. These cases involve mysterious disappearances and brutal murders that have left families searching for answers and justice. State and local law enforcement agencies have been dedicated to solving these cases and have recently spotlighted some of them in hopes of gaining new leads and information.

One such case is that of Susan Poole, a 15-year-old girl who went missing from her Fort Lauderdale home just before Christmas in 1972. Her remains were found in 1974 in North Palm Beach, and DNA technology confirmed her identity in June 2022. Investigators suspect she may have been a victim of the suspected serial killer Gerard Schaefer, who was convicted of murdering two teens in St. Lucie County in 1973.

Another case is that of Douglas Streeter, who disappeared in 1976 while visiting Florida from Ohio. His remains were found later that year in a cane field between Belle Glade and South Bay. Through forensic genealogy, his identity was confirmed in 2023.

Terry Ketron’s remains were discovered near Greenacres in January 1985, and authorities identified him in December 2023 using DNA technology. Ketron had traveled to South Florida from Kentucky in the early 1980s and was never heard from again after mentioning problems with a woman named Connie or Bonnie.

In 1987, the skeletal remains of Pati Lisa Rust were found in Royal Palm Beach. Using genetic genealogy testing, investigators identified Rust in February 2024. She was believed to have lived in the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea area in Broward County in the late 1980s.

Rachel Hurley, a 14-year-old girl, was found dead in a wooded area near Carlin Park in Jupiter in 1990. Two men were suspected of being involved in her abduction and murder but were never charged.

Tebble Garrett went missing in 1988 at the age of 17, and her remains were found nearly five years later in western Palm Beach County. Investigators believe she was traveling between South Carolina and Florida at the time of her disappearance.

The body of an unidentified woman was discovered in a blue bin in South Bay near the Palm Beach and Broward County border in 2005. Investigators referred to the case as “The Blue Bin Murder” and believe the woman was elderly and possibly from Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, or North Macedonia.

Cynthia Moffett was killed during a robbery at the Forest Oaks Golf Club near Greenacres in 2006. She was 52 years old and originally from Michigan. Randi Gorenberg was murdered after a shopping trip to Town Center at Boca Raton in 2007, and her body was found dumped in a parking lot west of Delray Beach.

Nancy Bochicchio and her 7-year-old daughter, Joey, were found shot in an SUV at the Town Center at Boca Raton mall in 2007. The mother and daughter were bound with plastic ties and handcuffs, and their murders remain unsolved.

These cold cases continue to haunt Palm Beach County, and law enforcement agencies are dedicated to bringing closure to the families of the victims. Anyone with information about these cases is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477).
