Identifying the Fallen Heroes
The fallen officers have been identified as Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, a 29-year-old resident of Rome, New York, and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Hoosock, a 37-year-old from Clay, New York. Remembering Officer Jensen
Officer Jensen, a graduate of the Syracuse Police Academy in 2022, had served on the force for two years. Honouring Deputy Hoosock
Deputy Hoosock had been a member of the Sheriff’s Office since 2007 and had a long and distinguished career in law enforcement. He had previously worked as an EMT with Rural Metro (now AMR) and served as a volunteer firefighter at Moyer’s Corners Fire Department. Sheriff Toby Shelley commended Hoosock for his outstanding service, noting that he had been promoted to Lieutenant in June 2023 and had received the Medal of Valor in 2020 for his heroism in a previous incident. Deputy Hoosock is survived by his wife and three children.
