At 5:21 a.m., two separate 911 calls were made, alerting authorities to the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the car submerged in the canal, with no sign of the driver emerging. Quick-thinking officers arrived promptly and bravely entered the water to rescue the driver from his overturned 2017 Ford Fusion. Despite their efforts to revive him, the driver, identified as Joshua Tyree Ballesteros, tragically passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center later that day.
