Tragic Accident Claims Life of Off-Duty West Palm Beach Police Officer
On a quiet Sunday morning in West Palm Beach, tragedy struck as a 30-year-old off-duty police officer lost his life in a devastating car accident. The incident occurred along North Congress Avenue, a typically busy thoroughfare in the heart of the city.

The incident took place at 5:21 a.m. when witnesses reported a car plunging into a canal off Congress Avenue, just south of Lombard Street and east of Interstate 95. Desperate calls to 911 described the vehicle as upside down in the water, with no sign of anyone emerging from the wreckage.
Swiftly responding to the scene, officers plunged into the water and managed to retrieve the driver, identified as Joshua Tyree Ballesteros, from the submerged 2017 Ford Fusion. Despite their best efforts, Ballesteros was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center in critical condition and tragically succumbed to his injuries later that day.
