In a video circulating on social media, a man dressed in black is seen approaching the bishop at the altar, identified as Mar Mari Emmanuel, and repeatedly stabbing him in the head and upper body. The congregation can be heard screaming as they rush to the bishop’s aid.
Emergency services, including the NSW Ambulance, treated the bishop, a man in his 50s, for multiple cuts before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Three other individuals were also treated for injuries at the scene.
