The Incident in Lincoln, Nebraska

In the early hours of the morning, Lincoln Police officers found themselves in a dangerous situation after a pursuit led them to a woman wielding a knife. The incident took place near North 44th Street and Cornhusker Highway, where officers arrested 39-year-old Billie Ruyle following a high-speed chase.

The Chase and Arrest

It all began when two officers noticed a vehicle with expired plates making a sharp turn near the intersection around 3:30 a.m. Attempting to pull the vehicle over, the officers were met with resistance as the driver sped off, crashing through a fence and becoming stuck. Two occupants fled the scene on foot, with a man managing to evade police in a nearby trailer park. However, officers were able to catch up with a woman who found herself trapped in a culvert – later identified as Billie Ruyle.

The Confrontation

As officers tried to arrest Ruyle, she put up a fight, leading to a tense struggle. According to court records, at one point, Ruyle reached for a blade fixed knife attached to her hip, prompting one of the officers to take action. Deploying two Taser probes, the officers were able to immobilize Ruyle and place her in handcuffs.

The Discovery

A search of the vehicle yielded a startling find – 38 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a scale. This discovery led to Ruyle being charged with possession of methamphetamine between 28 and 139 grams, as well as resisting arrest. Her bond was set at 10% of $125,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on May 16.
