Grand Larceny Incident at Walmart in Derby, VT

On the evening of March 20th, 2024, a disturbing incident of grand larceny took place at the Walmart located in Derby, Vermont. The Vermont State Police received a theft complaint from Ashton Shedd, who reported that while parked at the Walmart, items from within his vehicle were stolen. The stolen items included two chrome books and personal belongings belonging to both Shedd and Lauren Mead.

Suspect identified and Arrested

After a thorough investigation, the offender was identified as Randy Buzzell, a 28-year-old resident of Newport, VT. Buzzell was apprehended on April 14th, 2024, and taken into custody by the Vermont State Police. He was transported to the Derby Barracks for processing and later released with a citation. While some of the stolen property was recovered, including Buzzell’s arrest, two chrome books belonging to North Country Union High School remain missing.

Court Proceedings and Future Actions

Following his arrest, Buzzell is set to appear in court on May 7th, 2024, at 8:30 AM in the Criminal Division of the Vermont Superior Court in Newport.
