The recent arrest of two individuals by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with an IED blast at a cafe in Bengaluru has raised concerns about potential links to other terrorist organizations. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara addressed the media on Saturday to provide updates on the investigation.
According to Parameshwara, the authorities are working to determine if the arrested suspects have any connections to other terror outfits, including ISIS. He also mentioned that there is a possibility that the accused were attempting to escape to Bangladesh, as they were apprehended in West Bengal, a state bordering the neighboring country.
“We are investigating the real motive behind the blast and their involvement with other terror outfits, as these two (accused) are supposed to be involved in the earlier Shivmogga blast and kept running for three to four days ahead of getting arrested in this case,” Parameshwara stated. He added that the authorities are looking into whether someone from Bangladesh may have been aiding the suspects.
The Home Minister praised the collaborative efforts of the NIA and the Karnataka State Police in the investigation, highlighting the exchange of crucial information between the two agencies. He noted that the state police provided valuable evidence, such as CCTV footage and details about a cap purchased by one of the accused in Chennai.

Parameshwara expressed disappointment that both suspects are from Karnataka and had studied together in Shivmogga. When asked about the BJP’s characterization of West Bengal as a safe haven for terrorists due to the suspects’ arrest in Kolkata, he urged all parties to refrain from making political statements and instead focus on supporting the investigation.
“We all should work together in such cases where the internal security of the country is getting questioned,” Parameshwara emphasized.
The investigation into the IED blast at the cafe in Bengaluru remains ongoing, with authorities determined to uncover any potential links to terrorist organizations. As the case progresses, the collaboration between the NIA and Karnataka State Police will continue to play a crucial role in bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety and security of the region.
