Des Moines Man Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Des Moines, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department has released the name of the man who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday. Mitchell Ohland, a 41-year-old resident of Des Moines, was involved in a collision between his motorcycle and a Jeep at the intersection of E. University Avenue and E. 16th Street.

Sgt. Paul Parizek stated that the collision occurred at approximately 2:07 p.m. as Ohland was traveling east on E. University Ave. His Honda motorcycle collided with the passenger side of a Jeep that was making a left turn onto E. 16th St.

Despite wearing a helmet, Ohland sustained critical injuries in the accident. He was rushed to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
