A constable was allegedly attacked by unknown miscreants inside a police camp in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, late on Monday night. The injured cop has been hospitalized in Kolkata, and three individuals, including two local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, have been detained for questioning. The victim, constable Sandip Saha, was alone at the camp when the incident occurred, with the attackers suspected of arriving on a motorcycle. Sandeshkhali previously made headlines when ED officials were attacked during a search at a local TMC leader’s house, and later when villagers protested for the arrest of the leader over sexual assault and land grabbing allegations.

Constable Attacked Inside Police Camp in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal
In a troubling incident that took place around Monday midnight, a constable was reportedly attacked by unidentified miscreants inside a police camp in Sandeshkhali, a town located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
According to police officials, the victim, identified as constable Sandip Saha, was alone at the police camp when the attackers struck. It is believed that the assailants arrived on a motorcycle, carried out the attack, and fled the scene.
Saha was initially taken to a local health centre for treatment, but due to the severity of his injuries, he had to be transferred to a hospital in Kolkata for further medical assistance.

Local TMC Leaders Detained for Questioning
Following the incident, three individuals, including two local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, were apprehended by the authorities for questioning in connection with the attack on the constable.
An officer from the Sandeshkhali police station confirmed the detentions and stated that the investigation into the matter is ongoing to ascertain the motive behind the assault.
Sandeshkhali has been in the spotlight previously due to incidents involving prominent political figures. In January, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials were attacked while conducting a search at the residence of local TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh.
Furthermore, in February, villagers, predominantly women, staged protests demanding the arrest of Sheikh and his associates over allegations of sexual assault and land grabbing. Sheikh was eventually apprehended on court orders and handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The recent attack on the constable has raised concerns about the safety and security of law enforcement personnel in the region, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to ensure the protection of those serving on the frontlines.
