Man Arrested in Connection with Deadly Shooting in Antioch
A man was taken into custody on Monday in connection with a fatal shooting that took the life of a 36-year-old man in Antioch, a city located in Contra Costa County, California. The incident occurred last month on the 600 block of East 18th Street, where the victim, identified as Frank James, was found shot inside a parked vehicle by Contra Costa County firefighters on the morning of March 27. Unfortunately, James was pronounced dead at the scene.
Isolated Incident
At the time of the shooting, authorities stated that the incident appeared to be isolated, emphasizing that there was no immediate danger to the local community. However, the investigation continued as detectives worked diligently to identify a suspect in the case.
Arrest Made
In a recent update, the Antioch Police Department announced that a suspect had been identified with the assistance of advanced technology and city surveillance cameras. Subsequently, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the individual believed to be responsible for James’ death.
On Monday, officers from the Walnut Creek Police Department apprehended the suspect, 29-year-old Jacob Crooks, during a routine traffic stop. Crooks was then booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of murder.
