A 23-year-old man from Malton has been charged with second-degree murder after another man from the same community died weeks after being assaulted. The incident occurred on Jan. 29, when Peel Regional Police found 58-year-old Keith Lasaga suffering from significant trauma in the lobby of an apartment building. Lasaga later died on March 23 from the injuries sustained in the attack. The accused, Muhammad Khan, was re-arrested on April 4 and charged with second-degree murder. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Khan is currently held in custody pending a bail hearing in a Brampton court.

The Tragic Assault in Malton
A 23-year-old man from Malton has been charged with second-degree murder after another man from the same community died weeks after being assaulted. The incident took place on Jan. 29 in the lobby of an apartment building at 7110 Darcel Ave. in Malton. Peel Regional Police (PRP) responded to a call around 8:15 a.m. that day and found 58-year-old Keith Lasaga suffering significant trauma from the assault.
A Community in Shock
Keith Lasaga was rushed to the hospital following the attack and remained in critical condition for several weeks before succumbing to his injuries on March 23. Peel Regional Police’s homicide bureau took over the investigation, revealing that the accused, 23-year-old Muhammad Khan, and the victim were not known to each other.
The Arrest and Charges
Muhammad Khan, who had been previously in custody for the assault, was re-arrested on April 4 and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at a Brampton court.
