Kochi: Palarivattom police have made a significant arrest in an attempted murder case, with the apprehension of a 30-year-old man named N A Yusuf alias Vadival Yusuf from Elamakkara. The incident, which took place in February, involved the accused and an accomplice trying to attack a man with an iron rod on February 11. The attack occurred after the accused chased the victim’s car in another vehicle. Police revealed that the incident was a result of a previous altercation that had taken place at a roadside stall.

Following the incident, the accused had gone into hiding, but a special team was formed under ACP Rajkumar and the supervision of DCP K S Sudarshan, as directed by Commissioner S Shyamsundar, to track down the perpetrator. The investigative team included Sub-inspector Alby S Puthukatt, Josy, ASI Anil, SCPO Saneep, Ignatious, Mahesh, and Prashanth. The arrest of Yusuf marks a significant breakthrough in the case, bringing the perpetrator to justice.

In a separate incident, Palluruthy police arrested a man from Palakkad in connection with a case involving the seizure of 174.5kg of ganja from a car in April 2023. The arrested individual, identified as Muhammed, was apprehended from his hideout in Bengaluru. He was the seventh accused in the case, and his arrest was made following the directive of the police commissioner. The contraband seized from the car was estimated to have a value of over Rs 50 lakh.

In recent news, the Kurukshetra police successfully solved the murder case of Shri Digambar Jain Temple priest, Pandit Hukam Chand, by arresting two individuals named Aman alias Budhwar and Deepak Kumar alias Chhotu. The accused were granted a two-day police remand as investigations into the case continue. The motive behind the murder was revealed to be an old enmity between the parties involved.

Additionally, Nanakmatta police have made progress in the investigation of the murder case of Dera Kar Sewa chief Baba Tarsem Singh by arresting four suspects. However, prime suspects Sarabjit Singh Mianwind and Amarjeet Singh remain on the run as efforts to bring them to justice continue.
