A horrifying incident shook the streets of downtown Brockton on Saturday morning, leaving a community in shock. A Brockton man, Vasco Semedo, is facing murder charges after allegedly driving his Toyota RAV4 multiple times over a pedestrian in a tragic turn of events.

According to reports from the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office, the incident took place near 65 North Main Street in downtown Brockton around 8:53 a.m. on Saturday. Brockton Police responded to multiple 911 calls about a crash in the area.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the suspect, 45-year-old Vasco Semedo, being detained by bystanders. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Stuart Smith, was found unresponsive on the pavement in front of Semedo’s vehicle, a Toyota RAV4.

Smith was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries later that night. Witnesses and surveillance video allegedly show Semedo driving his vehicle into the victim, backing up, and then driving over him once more. Semedo then exited his vehicle and reportedly struck Smith with a brick as he lay on the ground.
