The victims have been identified as James L. Mauney, 83, of Juliaetta, Idaho, and Gerald Don Henderson, 72, of Orofino, Idaho. Henderson had taken in Umphenour for a month when he was a teenager, and the duo allegedly stole Mauney’s minivan to flee to Twin Falls. Meade and Umphenour are believed to be members of the Aryan Knights white supremacist prison gang.

Meade, 31, was serving a 20-year sentence at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution for shooting at a sheriff’s sergeant, while Umphenour was released in January after serving time for theft and gun convictions. The two had mutual friends and were sometimes housed together in prison.
