Two passengers were arrested by police at Delhi’s IGI airport for making a threat of a ‘nuclear bomb’ to security staff during frisking. The incident involving Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani from Rajkot, Gujarat, occurred on April 5. The passengers were offloaded from Akasa Air flight QP-1334 due to the security threat. A case under section 182, 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against them. Both passengers, who are business contractors in the construction industry, were released on bail. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Usha Rangani.

Arrests made at Delhi’s IGI Airport for ‘Nuclear Bomb’ Threat
On April 5th, two passengers, Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, both residents of Rajkot in Gujarat, were arrested at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi for making a serious threat to security staff during frisking.
Threat of a ‘Nuclear Bomb’
According to reports, the incident took place during the Secondary Ladder Point Security (SLPC) for Akasa Air flight QP-1334 (DEL-AMD). As the passengers, Malani and Lalani, were being frisked, Malani made a shocking comment to the staff, stating, “Aap kya karoge Main Nuclear bomb le jaa raha hun” (What will you do? I am carrying a nuclear bomb).
Security Measures Taken
Following the threatening statement, the airline staff took immediate action to ensure the safety of the aircraft and its occupants. The decision was made to offload the passengers from the flight due to the potential security risk posed by their remarks.
Legal Action and Investigation
Subsequently, a case was registered under section 182, 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the two passengers, who were then placed under arrest. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI airport) Usha Rangani stated that further investigation revealed that Malani and Lalani were business contractors in the construction industry in Rajkot, Gujarat.

Release on Bail
