Tristan Sammons, a 27-year-old man with a warrant for his arrest, led police on a multi-county chase before barricading himself in a home in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The incident began with a domestic dispute inside a car in Montgomery County, where Sammons was allegedly beating a woman. After fleeing from police, Sammons drove through fields and crashed into a tree before attempting to hide in a crawlspace of a home where he was eventually apprehended. The police perimeter, backup from Indiana State Police, and a K-9 unit were all involved in the successful arrest of Sammons without further incident.

Sammons was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal recklessness, and fleeing law enforcement. Additional charges are pending in Montgomery County.

The incident caused a temporary shutdown of U.S. 231 in Linden as police worked to apprehend Sammons. No injuries were reported during the chase or the arrest.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department thanked the Indiana State Police, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Linden Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance during the incident.

Sammons is currently being held in the Tippecanoe County Jail without bond. It is unclear when he will make his initial court appearance.

Residents in the area where the chase and arrest took place expressed relief that the situation was resolved without any serious injuries. Many praised law enforcement for their quick response and handling of the incident.
