ATLANTA — The Georgia State Patrol has identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Campbellton Road in Atlanta. The incident unfolded as GSP troopers were assisting the Atlanta Police Department on Friday afternoon in relation to a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that APD was attempting to stop.
The truck had been previously involved in a pursuit with APD a few days prior. A GSP trooper tried to pull over the truck on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Fairburn Road, but the driver fled, prompting a pursuit. The driver then proceeded onto the interstate, driving recklessly before exiting onto GA-166 for Campbellton Road.
Tragically, the truck ran a red light and collided with a Dodge Challenger, causing it to strike a utility pole. The driver of the Dodge Challenger, identified as 43-year-old Tamara Taylor of Atlanta, was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
