The stolen vehicle, a white Toyota Fortuner, was taken from a service centre in Govindpuri, Delhi, on March 19. The incident occurred when the driver, Joginder, briefly left the SUV unattended at the centre. The vehicle, registered in Himachal Pradesh in the name of JP Nadda’s wife, sparked a swift response from law enforcement authorities.

Investigative Progress

Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Rajesh Deo disclosed that the investigation gained momentum following the lodging of an e-FIR by Joginder at the Govindpuri police station. The case was subsequently transferred to the Anti-Auto Theft Squad of Southeast Delhi, leading to the formation of a dedicated team to handle the matter.

Key Arrest and Confessions

The breakthrough in the case came with the apprehension of Shivansh Tripathi, a key suspect in the theft, near the Patiala House Court. Tripathi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, revealed during interrogation his involvement in the crime and implicated several accomplices in the operation.

Modus Operandi

Tripathi divulged that he and his associates carried out the theft in Govindpuri, Delhi, with meticulous planning. The stolen SUV was then transported to a farmhouse in Faridabad before being sold to Saleem, a notorious figure known for purchasing stolen luxury cars.
