A government school teacher in Bhubaneswar was arrested for allegedly sharing question papers of classes 1 to 8 with his wife, who uploaded them on her YouTube channel to gain subscribers and monetize her videos. The accused, Jagannath Kar, 29, was identified as an assistant teacher at Gopinath Jew nodal upper primary school in Jajpur district. The cyber crime police station registered a case based on a complaint filed by the project director of Odisha School Education Programme Authority. The investigation revealed that the couple’s intention was to earn money through their YouTube channel. Police seized electronic devices and bank passbooks from the accused as evidence.

In a shocking incident, a government school teacher in Bhubaneswar was arrested for allegedly sharing question papers of classes 1 to 8 with his wife, who then uploaded them on her YouTube channel in a bid to gain more subscribers and monetize her videos. The accused, identified as Jagannath Kar, 29, is an assistant teacher at Gopinath Jew nodal upper primary school in Jajpur district. While his wife is also implicated in the case, she has not been arrested due to being a lactating mother.
The cyber crime police station registered a case on March 18 following a complaint filed by Anupam Saha, the project director of Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA). Deputy Commissioner of Police Prateek Singh revealed that during the investigation, it was discovered that Kar had collected the question papers on behalf of the headmistress of Itara primary school from the cluster research centre coordinator at Gopinath Jew nodal upper primary school a week before the exams. Instead of submitting the papers at the school, he took them home where he and his wife scanned the documents on a mobile phone. Subsequently, his wife uploaded the question papers on her YouTube channel.
“The couple’s motive was to generate income from the YouTube channel by increasing subscribers, likes, and shares of their videos. The investigation is ongoing to determine the amount they earned from the YouTube channel,” stated DCP Prateek Singh. Police seized two mobile phones, a laptop, scanned copies of the leaked question papers, and two bank passbooks from the accused.

This incident highlights the growing trend of individuals resorting to unethical means to gain popularity and financial benefits on social media platforms. In related news, recent reports have emerged of similar cases of question paper leaks in other parts of the country. In Uttar Pradesh, the Special Task Force (STF) arrested Rajeev Nayan Mishra in connection with the paper leak for the Noida police constable exam. A total of 399 individuals have been arrested in connection with the canceled exam sessions on February 17-18. The STF is also investigating the involvement of other suspects, including Ravi Attri and Goldy, in the case.
Furthermore, in a separate incident, a man from Madhya Pradesh was apprehended in Noida for his alleged involvement in the UP Police exam paper leak. The individual, identified as Mishra, distributed the leaked papers at Shiv Mahashakti resort in Rewa. With a total of 399 arrests and the cancellation of the exam, authorities are cracking down on individuals involved in such fraudulent activities.
As investigations continue into these cases of question paper leaks, it is imperative for authorities to take stringent action against those responsible to uphold the sanctity of examinations and prevent such incidents from reoccurring in the future.
