Israel Launches Air Strikes on Eastern Lebanon

In the early hours of Sunday, Israel carried out air strikes on eastern Lebanon, targeting what they claimed to be Hezbollah infrastructure sites. This action came in response to the downing of an Israeli drone by the armed group in Lebanese airspace, escalating tensions between the two sides.

Israeli Air Strikes

According to a statement released by the Israeli army, fighter jets targeted a military complex and three other infrastructure sites belonging to Hezbollah in the eastern city of Baalbek. The strike was a direct response to Hezbollah’s destruction of an unmanned aerial vehicle, identified as the Israeli-made Hermes 900 drone.

Escalating Conflict

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has been ongoing since October 8, following an attack by Hamas on Israel that sparked a war in Gaza. This has led to continued exchanges of fire across Lebanon’s southern border, resulting in casualties on both sides.
