Three Passengers Detained at Tambaram Railway Station with ₹4 Crore Cash

Three passengers were detained at Tambaram railway station from the Nellai Express train with over ₹4 crore cash in Chennai on Saturday night, according to officials quoted by AajTak.

Details of the Incident

The three men, identified as S Sathish (33) from Agaram, his brother S Navin (31), and S Perumal (26) of Thoothukudi, were found carrying around eight bags filled with cash in ₹500 notes after boarding the train in Egmore. Upon receiving the information, the police and flying squad at Tambaram railway station sprang into action around 9 pm on Saturday.

The police detained all three suspects at the police station and alerted the income tax department for further investigation. It was reported that the bags of cash were discovered in the second-class AC coach (A1) of the train.

Investigation and Possible Links

The police have initiated search operations in Kilpauk, Triplican, and Saligramam, focusing on places associated with Tirunelveli BJP candidate Nainar Nagendran. The report mentioned that the passengers may have kept the cash at locations linked to the BJP leader before transporting it to Egmore railway station.
