Bhopal: A shocking incident has come to light in Koh-e-Fiza, where the police have claimed to have solved the mysterious case of a nurse’s death with the arrest of her friend. The accused, identified as Deepak Katiyar, 31, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, has been taken into custody for allegedly strangling the nurse to death.

According to the police, the 37-year-old nurse, who hailed from Kerala, was found dead under suspicious circumstances. She resided in Bag Sewania area with her 11-year-old son and worked at a private hospital in Bawadia Kalan. The investigation revealed that the nurse had visited Deepak’s flat in Lalghati area on Wednesday afternoon, where the unfortunate incident took place.

DCP (Zone-3) Riyaz Iqbal stated that Deepak and the nurse had been friends for the past five years, having met when she worked at a hospital in Lalghati. On the fateful day, Deepak allegedly made physical contact with the nurse and then strangled her to death at around 8 pm. He then kept her body at his flat for several hours before taking her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The post-mortem report confirmed that the cause of death was ‘asphyxiation due to throttling’, leading the police to register a murder case against Deepak and subsequently arrest him. Despite initially trying to mislead the authorities, Deepak eventually confessed to the crime.

DCP Iqbal revealed that the motive behind the heinous act was a dispute that arose between Deepak and the nurse after he got married to another woman in April 2023. The nurse reportedly started quarrelling with him, prompting him to plan her murder to get rid of her. He sent his family away to his native town and called the nurse to his flat under the pretext of discussing their issues.

After the nurse refused to leave his life, Deepak resorted to extreme measures and ended her life. He then concocted a story about her falling unconscious due to giddiness and rushed her to a hospital in an ambulance. However, the truth was unveiled through the post-mortem report, leading to his arrest.

The shocking revelation of this tragic incident has left the community in disbelief, with many questioning the motive behind such a brutal act. The authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure that justice is served for the victim and her family.
