Upper Dublin Township, PA – A devastating house fire in Upper Dublin Township claimed the lives of a husband and wife, leaving their son injured and hospitalized. The victims have been identified as 74-year-old Stephen Wood Sr. and 70-year-old Deborah Wood.

Details of the Incident

The tragedy unfolded early Thursday morning when Montgomery County 911 received a distress call reporting a residential fire at 900 Bellaire Avenue in the Ambler section of Upper Dublin Township. The Fort Washington Fire Company and Upper Dublin Police Department swiftly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers witnessed heavy flames venting through windows at the rear of the home. Stephen Wood Jr., the couple’s 35-year-old son, managed to escape the inferno and informed authorities that his parents were still trapped inside.

Wood Jr. was rushed to Temple University Hospital by the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler, suffering from burn and smoke inhalation injuries. Firefighters from the Fort Washington Fire Company, along with support from neighboring fire departments, bravely entered the burning home to conduct a search and rescue operation.

Tragically, Stephen Wood Sr. was discovered on the first floor of the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene.
