The victims were identified as Ronald L. Milano, 70, of Bennet, Neb.; Joshua Z. Milano, 39, of Lincoln, Neb.; and Patricia A. Milano, 33, of Lincoln, Neb.

The fatal collision took place at 1:31 p.m. on Wednesday on US-24 highway near N 2100 Road, approximately 4 miles northwest of Lawrence. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling eastbound on US-24 collided head-on with a 2010 Kia Soul that was heading westbound on the highway.

Following the impact, the GMC came to a halt partially blocking the roadway and facing south, while the Kia came to rest on the highway. Ronald Milano, the driver of the Kia, along with passengers Joshua Milano and Patricia Milano, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

While Ronald Milano was wearing his seat belt, it remains unknown whether Joshua and Patricia Milano were also buckled up at the time of the crash. The driver of the GMC, Lowell A. Neitzel, 43, of Lawrence, sustained no apparent injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Neitzel, who was alone in the pickup truck, was reported to be wearing his seat belt.
