A routine traffic stop in Winter Haven, Florida, took a surprising turn when a man was arrested for illegal tint on his pickup truck. Jose Alonso-Rodriguez, 37, found himself in hot water after being pulled over for dark windows on his Nissan Titan.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy noticed the extremely dark tint on Alonso-Rodriguez’s windows during a stop in the Eloise area of Winter Haven. The tint on the driver’s window measured at only 3%, well below the legal limit of 28% for front side windows.

When asked for his driver’s license, Alonso-Rodriguez admitted to not having one and lacking insurance. This was not his first run-in with the law in Polk County, as he had previously been convicted of DUI and driving without a license in 2022.

Alonso-Rodriguez even confessed to deputies that he had been deported to Mexico following his last arrest and conviction. After being taken into custody on Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified of his status.

Repeat Offender Faces Possible Deportation

Alonso-Rodriguez’s history of driving infractions and his undocumented status have put him at risk of deportation once again. This incident serves as a reminder of the consequences that can come from repeated violations of the law.

Local authorities are urging drivers to comply with regulations regarding window tint and driver’s licenses to avoid similar situations. The enforcement of these laws not only ensures public safety but also helps uphold the integrity of our legal system.
