The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Five in Connection to Deadly Shooting in Hemingway, South Carolina

Hemingway, South Carolina – The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office has made significant progress in the investigation of a deadly shooting that took place at a family gathering last month. Five individuals have been arrested in connection to the incident, which occurred at 1832 Cow Head Road in Hemingway on March 23.

Details of the Arrests

Javontae Marcellous Pressley, 18, of Scranton, has been charged with murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, pointing and presenting a firearm to a person, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Comaine Jamal Pressley, 22, also of Scranton, faces similar charges in connection to the shooting.

Dominick Markell Graham, 19, of Darlington, has also been charged with murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, pointing and presenting a firearm to a person, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Additionally, Autumn Spring Perkins, 19, of Darlington, has been charged with accessory after the fact of a felony.

Jeffery Comane Pressley, 42, of Nesmith, is facing charges of giving false information to law enforcement after already being incarcerated on a previous charge.

The Tragic Incident

The victim, identified as Vantrell Hanna, 20, of Hemingway, tragically lost his life in the shooting. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found three victims, each with gunshot wounds. Hanna was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were attending a family gathering when they were shot outside of the home. The suspects, Javontae Pressley, Comaine Pressley, and Dominick Graham, allegedly confronted the victim with a firearm, leading to a deadly confrontation.

Deputies reported that Javonae Pressley and another victim were also shot during the incident, with Perkins allegedly aiding the suspects by transporting them from the scene. Jeffery Pressley was the first to be arrested on March 25, followed by the other four suspects on April 2.
