Kochi: One person was killed, and five others sustained injuries after a tragic road accident in Pulluvazhy on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Sadhan, 54, of Malayattoor, was a passenger in a car that was involved in the collision. The incident occurred around 6.25 am when a speeding Innova car traveling from Muvattupuzha towards Perumbavoor on the MC Road crashed into another car coming from the opposite direction.
In addition to Sadhan, his relatives Sajeev, Rajive, Mini, and Raji were also injured in the accident. Following the initial collision, an autorickshaw collided with their car as well, further escalating the situation. The auto driver also sustained injuries in the incident, adding to the toll of victims.
Rescue teams and fire personnel had to use specialized equipment to extract the trapped passengers from the mangled car. The injured individuals were promptly transported to a nearby private hospital for medical treatment. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Sadhan succumbed to his injuries. The Kuruppampady police have initiated an investigation and filed an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving, causing hurt endangering life, and causing death by negligence.
