Tragic Collision on I-15 Claims Three Lives
BAKER, Calif. (VVNG.com) – The California Highway Patrol has released additional details about a devastating head-on collision that occurred on Interstate 15 near mile marker 145 in unincorporated San Bernardino County near the Halloran off-ramp Springs Rd.
The accident took place on March 30, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., amidst heavy rain that caused treacherous driving conditions. A 2019 KIA, driven by a 52-year-old man from Madera, California, lost control and hydroplaned across the southbound lanes, eventually colliding head-on with a 2016 Mercedes SUV in the northbound lanes.
Tragically, three individuals lost their lives in the collision. Alicia M. Ramos, 43, and her 13-year-old son Isaac, both passengers in the KIA, succumbed to their injuries. Ramos passed away on the way to Barstow Community Hospital, while Isaac tragically died at the scene.

The aftermath of the accident led to the closure of the northbound lanes of I-15 for several hours as emergency responders worked at the scene. The California Highway Patrol has ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors in the crash.
Officer L. Roberson is spearheading the ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Barstow office at 760-255-5900.
