In a bizarre incident that unfolded in the early hours of the morning, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper found himself on the wrong side of the law in Daytona Beach. The trooper, identified as 49-year-old David Baker, was arrested and subsequently fired after allegedly breaking into a Daytona Beach Hooters restaurant and stealing four beer taps.
The Scene of the Crime
The incident took place at the Hooters restaurant located at 2100 West International Speedway Blvd. in Daytona Beach. Police were alerted to a burglary alarm at around 1:26 a.m., prompting a swift response to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a blue Dodge pickup truck parked in the adjacent lot, with Baker loading items into the vehicle. The restaurant, which was closed for the day, had a shattered glass window on the west side of the building, indicating forced entry.

As officers approached Baker, he attempted to conceal himself before complying with their commands. Baker claimed he was merely looking for a place to urinate, providing conflicting accounts of his whereabouts and intentions that night.
