The man, identified as Tyrik Willie Joe Pressley III, made the attempt on Friday. Pressley drove onto the campus, evading officers at the entrance gate, prompting a pursuit. SLED reported that Pressley sustained a graze wound, with uncertainty whether it was caused by a bullet or another object. Following treatment at the hospital, Pressley III was charged by the South Carolina State University Police with attempted murder and failure to stop for a blue light. Thankfully, no officers were harmed during the incident, which led to the South Carolina State University Police Department requesting SLED to investigate the shooting.
