A man identified as Sunday Ogah from Benue State has tragically drowned in the Eyinwa River in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. Ogah had accompanied his friend, Otusanya Abayomi, to the community and visited the river for fun without informing anyone. The Ogun State Police Command is currently making efforts to retrieve Ogah’s body and inform his relatives. A man named Sunday Ogah, hailing from Benue State, met a tragic end in the Eyinwa River located in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. The Eyinwa community was thrown into disarray as news of the incident spread like wildfire.

The unfortunate event took place around noon when Ogah, accompanied by his friend Otusanya Abayomi, decided to visit the river for some leisurely fun. However, what was meant to be a day of relaxation turned into a nightmare as Ogah drowned in the river.

Efforts to Retrieve Ogah’s Body

The Eyinwa community and the Ogun State Police Command are currently working tirelessly to retrieve Ogah’s body from the river. The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and assured that efforts are ongoing to locate and inform Ogah’s relatives about the tragic incident.

Previous Incidents in Ogun State

This is not the first time a drowning incident has occurred in Ogun State. In August 2023, two individuals from Lagos State lost their lives while swimming in a river at Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area. The victims, Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade, were swept away by a heavy tidal wave during a post-church programme swim.

Such incidents serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by natural bodies of water, especially during recreational activities. The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun, expressed his deepest condolences to Ogah’s family and friends during this challenging time.
