Tel Aviv: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported that they successfully eliminated four senior Hamas leaders in Gaza City’s Al-Shifa hospital during a recent operation. The hospital was being used as a hideout by several members of the terrorist organization.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Raad Thabet, the head of Hamas’s recruitment and supply acquisition, and Mahmoud Khalil Zakzuk, the deputy commander of the Hamas rocket unit in Gaza City.
Two other senior Hamas operatives, Fadi Dweik and Zakaria Najib, were also among those killed in the operation.
The IDF revealed that Dweik was a senior intelligence officer for Hamas and was involved in a 2002 shooting incident in the West Bank that resulted in the deaths of four Israeli citizens.
Zakaria Najib, on the other hand, was a senior operative in Hamas’s West Bank headquarters and played a role in planning and executing attacks on Israel in the region.
The IDF stated that an exchange of fire was ongoing within the premises of Al-Shifa hospital, with their troops having neutralized approximately 200 Hamas operatives inside the facility. Additionally, several Hamas gunmen were also eliminated in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza.
The Israeli Air Force conducted aerial attacks in the al-Amal and al-Quarara regions to support the ground invasion by the IDF.
