The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. when authorities received a report about three individuals cutting a lock on a moped and walking away with it near Gavin Way and Msgr. O’Callaghan Way, as reported by the Boston Police Department.

Upon reaching the intersection within the Mary Ellen McCormack housing development, officers observed two individuals riding on mopeds and a third individual walking with a moped. The officers instructed them to halt, at which point the man identified as Christopher Jolliemore reportedly pushed the moped towards the officers before attempting to flee on foot and eventually joining Billy Huynh on the back of his moped.

During the altercation, one of the officers managed to grab onto Jolliemore as Huynh allegedly accelerated, resulting in the officer being dragged until Jolliemore was pulled off the moped. Subsequently, after a physical struggle, Jolliemore was subdued and handcuffed with the assistance of other officers.

Following the confrontation, Huynh reportedly crashed the moped into a vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but law enforcement swiftly caught up with him and took him into custody. The third suspect managed to evade capture.

Huynh and Jolliemore now face charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, destruction of property, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. They are scheduled to appear in the South Boston division of Boston Municipal Court for arraignment. Legal representation for the accused is yet to be confirmed.

The Boston Police Department has initiated an investigation into the incident, with no reported injuries thus far.
