In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 10-year-old girl named Manvi from Punjab tragically lost her life due to food poisoning after consuming her birthday cake. The incident took place in Patiala, where the young girl had ordered the cake online from a bakery nearby to celebrate her special day.

Family Celebrations Turned Nightmare

The Patiala family had gathered to celebrate Manvi’s birthday by indulging in the birthday cake that was ordered online. However, shortly after consuming the cake, all family members began to show symptoms of food poisoning. Nausea and vomiting plagued everyone who had partaken in the cake, leading to a harrowing ordeal for the family.

Grandfather’s Account

Speaking to NDTV reporters, the deceased girl’s grandfather shared details of the tragic incident. The family had ordered the cake around 6 pm and celebrated Manvi’s birthday at 7 pm. By 10 pm that night, the entire family fell ill, with the two younger daughters experiencing vomiting. Manvi, in particular, complained of extreme thirst and a dry mouth before eventually succumbing to the effects of the poisoned cake.

Allegations Against Bakery

The family has accused the ‘Cake Kanha’ bakery in Patiala’s Adalat Bazaar of selling poisonous substances that led to Manvi’s untimely death. A case has been registered against the bakery shop owner under Sections 273 and 304A of the IPC. The family is awaiting the results of the postmortem and cake testing to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.

Neighbour’s Timely Intervention

A neighbour came to the rescue of the family when the health of all family members deteriorated simultaneously, getting them admitted to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, Manvi could not be saved and tragically passed away.
