The incident occurred at the intersection of Ennis Creek Road and U.S. Highway 84, north of Snyder, at 8 p.m. The preliminary report by the Texas Department of Public Safety revealed that a 2008 Saturn Outlook driven by 35-year-old Colton Shane Guynes collided with a 1999 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck. The passenger in Guynes’ vehicle, Victoria Ann Salinas, was pronounced dead at University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock. Guynes and the pickup truck driver, Eric Morin, sustained incapacitating injuries. Seatbelt usage was a crucial factor in the outcome of the collision.

Scurry County, Texas: 22-Year Old Woman Killed in Tragic Collision

Tragedy struck last Thursday in Scurry County, Texas, as a fatal two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 22-year old woman. The incident occurred at the intersection of Ennis Creek Road and U.S. Highway 84, just north of Snyder, at around 8 p.m.

Details of the Collision

According to the preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision involved a 2008 Saturn Outlook passenger car driven by 35-year-old Colton Shane Guynes of Snyder. The vehicle was travelling west on Ennis Creek Road towards the intersection with U.S. Highway 84.

Travelling as a passenger in Guynes’ vehicle was 22-year-old Victoria Ann Salinas. At the same time, a 1999 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck was heading southbound on U.S. Highway 84. As Guynes attempted to cross into the southbound lanes of the highway, the pickup truck collided with his vehicle on the passenger side.

Result of the Collision

Tragically, Victoria Ann Salinas was pronounced dead after being transported to the University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock. Colton Shane Guynes sustained incapacitating injuries and was also taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, identified as 31-year-old Eric Morin from Snyder, was also treated for incapacitating injuries at the University Medical Center Hospital. A 13-year-old male, who was a passenger in Morin’s vehicle, was taken to Cogdell Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries and later released.

It was reported that Victoria Ann Salinas, Eric Morin, and the 13-year-old male passenger were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident. Unfortunately, Colton Shane Guynes was not wearing his seatbelt when the collision occurred.
