The Nagpur Rural Police have uncovered a fraudulent gang involved in matrimonial scams, targeting needy individuals. The gang, consisting of two women and two men, would arrange marriages and then the brides would flee the next day. One woman charged Rs 50,000 for arranging marriages while the other would marry youngsters. The gang was busted by Aroli Police after a complaint was lodged. The Nagpur Rural Police have successfully busted a four-member gang, including two women, involved in matrimonial fraud. The incident took place in Nagpur, a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra, known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant community.

The gang consisted of two women who were running a matrimonial fraud operation. One of the women was marrying needy persons, while the other charged fees of Rs 50,000 for arranging marriages. After the weddings, the brides would flee from the homes of their newly married husbands, leaving the families in shock and distress.
Investigation and Arrest
The Aroli Police of Nagpur Rural acted swiftly after receiving a complaint from Manohar Meshram, a resident of Wakeshwar village in Mauda Tehsil. Manohar’s son, Pravin, had fallen victim to the fraud orchestrated by the gang. The police identified the accused as Satish Deepak Hirekhan, Amit Tekam, Seema, and Sonu, residents of Nagpur and Pardi.
The gang’s modus operandi involved luring families with promises of finding suitable brides and arranging marriages. However, after the weddings, the brides would disappear, leaving the families devastated. Manohar and Pravin Meshram were one such family who approached the police after Sonu fled from the matrimonial house within 24 hours of the wedding.
Police Operation and Arrest
Upon receiving a tip-off, the police set up a trap to catch the fraudsters in action. Posing as a prospective groom, a police constable, along with his team, met with Seema and the others to expose their fraudulent activities. The gang was arrested by the police under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Harssh Poddar.
Legal Action
A case under Sections 419, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code was registered by the Aroli Police against the accused. The diligent efforts of API Nishant Fulekar and his team led to the successful arrest of the fraudsters, bringing justice to the victims of matrimonial fraud.
