A man from Las Cruces, New Mexico, found himself in hot water after being arrested in connection to a storage unit robbery that took place in February. Jose M. Castaneda, 33, was taken into custody after the victim recognized him by his distinctive face tattoos.

Incident Details

The robbery occurred on February 15 at a storage facility located on 302 E. Union Avenue, near S. Main Street. The owner of one of the storage units happened to be driving by when he noticed someone breaking into his unit. Upon closer inspection, he discovered Castaneda inside, wearing a face mask.

When the owner confronted Castaneda, the suspect allegedly brandished a handgun and issued a threatening command to back off. The situation escalated quickly, prompting the suspect to flee the scene, leaving behind his car and his girlfriend.

A few days later, on February 20, the owner of the storage unit was asked to identify the stolen items that were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
