Police in Berhampur discovered the lifeless body of a 28-year-old man named M Lingaraj in Bati Siripur near Upalada in Gajapati district on Friday. Lingaraj, a peon in the minor irrigation department in Paralakhemundi, was on his way to attend a wedding in Gurandi when he was presumably attacked and killed by unknown assailants. The authorities recovered his body from the roadside and sent it for postmortem examination.
Investigating officer Rabindra Panda, the inspector in-charge at Gurandi police station, stated that the motive behind Lingaraj’s tragic demise is still under investigation.
